Tinley Park’s newest craft beer establishment is as unique as the beers it sells. Located conveniently close to the I-80 and Harlem interchange, The Open Bottle Craft Beer Shop & Tap Room is a place all beer enthusiasts will love.
Owners Patrick & Julia Bisch sell over 300 different kinds of craft beer from breweries all over the United States. If you are unsure of what to purchase, sit down at the bar in the tap room and sample one of the 8 beers on tap offered daily. (Tap list here)
The Open Bottle also offers free daily 1 oz samples of beers handpicked by Patrick. We sampled Nugget Nectar by Troegs Brewing Company out of Hershey, Pennsylvania and Sweet Desire Mead by Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery of Chicago, Illinois, both of which were fantastic. In fact, Patrick changed my mind on mead with the bourbon aged sample, it blew me away.
Talking with Patrick and Julia as we browsed the shelves and sampled, (with Wilco playing in the background, bonus points!) I could see their passion not only for their store, but for their customers. Everybody who came in was immediately welcomed as if they were coming into the couple’s home. Working almost seven days a week, the store has in fact turned into their home some could say, but this does not seem to bother the couple as it is clearly visible they love what they do.
I truly enjoyed talking beer with Patrick and look forward to my next visit. The samples and prices overall at The Open Bottle are much lower than other small stores in the Chicagoland area. As their website proclaims, The Open Bottle is indeed my new “favorite craft beer shop.” Check it out for yourselves and tell them Lindy sent you! Cheers!
